The hotel stunk for two days, the main elevator did not work for four days and the staff didn't even apologize or try to make it up in some way with added aspects of hospitality for those in need. Things go wrong I understand that. What matters most is how the staff and management reacts. 1. Start with a sincere apology 2. Have signs that direct guests to use the alternative elevator 3. Station someone in the lobby to help with bags 4. Offer free cocktails, cookies - just something that shows you care 5. Be transparent - how about a letter in every room explaining what is going on, when you expect it to be fixed.

Beyond that the room was merely adequate. The bathtub was hazardous because it was hard to enter and exit and the bottom was extremely slippery. There were step ups and step downs that are easy to trip on at the entrance to the room and to the bathroom. The toilet closet gave no privacy. The lighting was poor. The decor was old and worn out.

I stayed in this hotel years ago and had a very different experience - clearly a place in decline

Cannot speak more highly about the hotel. Location was ideal; rooms were perfect for my needs and as expected - well maintained with, an unexpected treat of a heated bathroom floor and a heated towel rack; and a very professional and helpful staff! Upon arrival, i had an issue with the room; a staff member was readily available to rectify my issue. Breakfast was ideal and convenient for me; The Delish staff were especially cordial with a shout out to Stefano! The Manager has led his staff by example...Marktgasse Hotel is an ideal boutique hotel in the heart of Altstadt! Do not hesitate to book your stay while visiting Zurich!

Rooms are relatively nice, location is great. Incredibly rude service: receptionist tried to double charge us for breakfast, implied we were lying when we said we'd paid, and then insisted on keeping a card on file.

I had the most wonderful 2-night stay here. From start to finish, the staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful, and the room was very comfortable. Whether I needed a quiet space to work, a cup of coffee, drinking water, or advice for the local area, the hotel had everything on hand to help. I liked that the area was central but the hotel was perfectly quiet. Actually it's the perfect size: it's small enough that you rarely see any other guests, and large enough that you always have privacy. I would absolutely stay again and highly recommend to any travelers.

Great location.
Rooms are small and very basic.
Breaki is basic.
The hotel does not stand up to the level of the restaurant it has in it. Thats was really sad because you expect it to be as good as th 2 Michline star it has...

Small but elegant hotel in the old town. Perfect location, very close to the bank and some nice restaurants. The reception was about perfect. Compliments to Vladimir.

It was a convenient location for discovering the Old Town. We had a spacious double room overlooking the street and it was quiet at night. Spacious bathroom as well with plenty of space for cosmetics.
The design of the room was rather on the practical, efficient side with minimalistic quality amenities and comfortable bed. The metalic bedside tables though were rattling when putting things on them, which wasn't creating a cozy atmosphere.
We enjoyed the breakfast (a good standard) at Delish and the evenings at Igniv bar, though the Igniv carrot carpaccio was somehow disappointing. The cocktails were good, but not necessarily up to the price.
We appreciated the access the hotel provides to the fitness centers with SPA. It was a nice walk in the afternoon to the Stockerhof fitness and SPA.
The personnel was friendly, efficient and professional either at the hotel or at the Igniv bar, and Delish caffe.

Shout out to Rania and team for making our stay very pleasant with them.

They took the initiative on making our stay best possible especially with them helping on our proposal plans.

They even gave us a bottle of champagne at night.

Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast there was good as well.

No complains and would definitely go there again should we visit Zurich.
