We could stay only one night at this lovely and, by Zurich standards, reasonably priced hotel. The location is excellent, especially if you trust yourself on the well laid out Zurich trams as the stop is 50 meters from the hotel (and even if you don’t, the location is still great and right on the lake).

Bed was comfortable and had plump typical feather beds/quilts and crisp sheets. Shower had good water pressure. We didn’t have the breakfast but having a lounge with free coffee and tea is a real plus in a city where coffee is prohibitively expensive.

The front desk was absolutely excellent! I sent them an email to tell them we were going to be late and mentioned I couldn’t call (European roaming never includes Switzerland!) and the hotel immediately called me to talk though how to get into the hotel after hours, followed up by a clear email.

This great service continued the next day. We told the front desk that our flight was not until 7pm, and checkout was 12, and the reception immediately agreed to allow us to leave our luggage there. Not only that, when we told them we were going swimming in the lake, the hotel gave us (and remember by this time we were no longer guests) two bath towels and bag for the towels. It was overall an excellent hotel and great experience and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

It is a lovely hotel in a perfect location for walking in the Old
Town. The rooms are spacious with places where you can
rest your luggage. And it has a wonderful big desk and CNN
on the television so I could follow the news in English. The desk
stool was a bit uncomfortable, so I put a pillow underneath me.

The bedrooms and baths are immaculate. They are so clean, I felt
like I could eat off the floor. I did have the owner turn off the AC,
so it became warm enough for me.

The dining area is pleasant, and the breakfast was delicious.

The lovely owner told us that the hotel had been in the family for 50 years,
I think. She is a very hard worker - greeting us when we arrived, hoisting luggage,
checking on the rooms after cleaning, working at breakfast, etc. She takes pride
in the hotel and is a most gracious person. We very much enjoyed our stay.

We spent four nights at this fabulous hotel. From the minute we walked in, Paul greeted us with a smile, made our dinner reservations, and made us feel at home! The hotel is in such a great location. You could shop, buy a few things, drop them off, and return to the old town. Perfect place for all of the fantastic transportation in Zurich as well. We had the boutique family room, and it was perfect for our family of 3 (2 adults and a teen). The room was essentially two hotel rooms with a hall door that closed to block off both rooms. The AC in the room worked great, it doesn't go below 68 degrees Fahrenheit, but that was perfect for us, and it was in the 80s when we were there. You could see the lake from our room! The breakfast was ok - your typical European breakfast. I'd say skip the breakfast package and find a croissant somewhere on your way out. I can't say enough wonderful things about the hotel - we loved it!

We had a short one night stay at Hotel Helmhaus as stop over before returning home. The hotel is small but very welcoming. Rooms were comfortable with great amenities. The double pane windows kept the street noise out. The breakfast included delicious hot food but biggest plus for me was the incredibly helpful staff. They took the time to write out a walking tour of the old town, make restaurant reservations and help with airport transfer. A hotel I would definitely return to and recommend

This hotel exceeded our expectations. It is in the heart of Zurich, surrounded by shops and restaurants. The rooms were very clean and housekeeping was on point. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Paul was very knowledgeable at recommending places to go and helpful with making reservations. Paul is da bomb!

We stayed 2 nights on a vacation visit. Thoroughly enjoyed this hotel, especially for its location - easy walks to everything you want to do in the city, and great public transit options (once you master the overly complicated Swiss transit system). We found the hotel to be very nice, the staff were all very helpful and responsive (even replying to an email we sent in while out and about within 20 minutes). Tram or easy walking distance to the train station. We had the breakfast option and found the food to be above average in both selection and taste. Overall well done and in a great location. Very happy to have stayed at this hotel!

This boutique hotel is one of my favourite places to stay on my many business trips. It is ideally located in the Altstadt in the heart of the city and near the lake. The rooms are an ideal size for me and the breakfast is excellent for a light start to the day.

This was our first time staying in Zürich, and Hotel Helmhaus turned out to be an amazing experience. Beautiful large room, well appointed, great bath products, and really comfortable bed. The central location in the Zürich old town was perfect and super close to the tram stop. What stood out to us most, however, was the superb service we received from every staff member. During our stay, Paul was especially kind, full of great information, and ready to help with any request. When we return to Zürich, we won't even consider another hotel.
