HEV supports internal arrangements and apartment swaps. This has the consequence that apartments are rather exchanged externally to promote the interests of minorities, before an apartment is publicly and fairly advertised.

The responsibility of an administration should be to ensure fair conditions and to promote all interests fairly and equally.

I rented an apartment through HEV for 3 years. I found their service to be; responsive, polite, fair, and punctual. As a temporary British worker lacking any German language comprehension, HEV took the time to explain local regulations and always corresponded with me in impeccable English. I would highly recommend.

The most dislike part of this agency is unresponsiveness. Yes, one can blame me for not speaking not good German (actually the staff speaks Swiss German), but it does no change the fact that neither phone call nor email raises any attention. It has been more than once that I contact to them but get no answer (only automatic phone reply). No solution is ever provided for complaints or any apparent issues. In contrast, the Home Service (their service partner) is far better, and yes it does help in many cases, but Home Service cannot do anything about payments.

Despite average reviews our experience with HEV was very positive. All repairs have been handled promptly and the apartment handover upon moving out was very smooth. Our security deposit has been returned literally 3 days after moving out. I can only recommend.
