Got very friendly and professional advise over the phone outside working hours. Even better, they didn’t tell me to come in, but to observe our dog and call back or come only if situation gets worse. So looks like they are honestly helping pets and pet owners and not just worry about profits. Thank you!

Yesterday I needed to take my dog u200bu200bto the Tierspital emergency hospital in Zürich for the first time and I was extremely disappointed with the service.
To the point of not staying and leaving with my dog.
Upon arrival, I expected to be asked what was going on and not receive the first question: stating that this service will cost at least 250 francs, are you ok with that? I even understand that this warning was given based on previous complaints from people who were not informed about the price, but the second part of the service was the worst of all. They wanted to take my dog u200bu200binto a room, without me being able to be there and asking if they could do any kind of puncture or injection if necessary.
We are talking about a living being, which for me is a son. What was the chance that I would arrive with my dog u200bu200bin bad conditions and not know what to do with him? Disappointing. Besides, they didn't even question what he was feeling. They were about to take the leash to take him inside.
What kind of professionalism is this?
A NOTHING humanized service!!!
The next question on Monday, when I go to his vet with my dog, is: where can I take him in case of an emergency and certainly NOT the Tierspital?

Only come here if you have nowhere else to bring your pet. First thing they ask you when you enter the hospital is whether you are ok with paying a 250 CHF emergency fee and not how your dog is or what is the problem that he has. Second they won’t let you into the consultation room so you really won’t know what kind of procedures they will be doing with your dog while you wait at the reception. I entered and left the hospital without leaving my dog there as they seem not to care much and very naive vets.

While the hospital and most staff are great I have nothing good to say about the neurologist Robert Herzig who is the most unfriendly vet I have seen so far. He should be working in a lab and not with patients. My dog spent the night in emergency and when he calls the next morning is to ask why did I bring my dog to emergency. I asked him if he could see all the notes in the computer as on Sunday I spent 3 hours at the hospital explaining the extreme pain my dog was under. He seemed dog has a strong cystitis and most likely Cushing syndrome. I asked him whether he was going to run other tests and what the urine and blood work say and he did not answer, again being mad that I even asked that! He was also mad that I did not understand his high german. A true disgrace as vet.
The second time he called was even worst. He said that if I don’t like him I should pick up my dog and take her somewhere else.

Truly professional and diligent staff, the doctors here are experts in their respective fields of knowledge. Everyone seems to be willing to go an step further in their attempt of saving and improving the lifes of their furry patients.

We had unfortunate need to go to an animal hospital, and in the end we had chosen tierspital, as everything else was closed on Sunday. And I am glad we chose to go here with our cat.

Everyone was extremely professional, both on the phone and in person. Registration of the zoo patient and the owners was fast and efficient, doctors speak english, and explained everything well.

Part of the admission procedure is that pet goes with the doctors, while the owners stay in the waiting room, for initial observation. This part can be stressful, but is a part of the procedure. I trust professionals do it this way for a reason. (Maybe this applies only to urgent care, as was our case)

Doctor was really good and knowledgeable, consulted with us and got a second opinion from a senior before proceeding with a decision. Extremely professional and well done.

From our experience with an urgent visit, I can only recommend tierspital.

We came to the emergency room over on saturday evening. He was after an ear hematoma operation and it didn't seem to me that his wound was healing properly. I was afraid that the dog was in pain. He was taken from us upon arrival, so we didn't have a chance to be with him during the examination. During the consultation with the doctor, they convinced me that the ear is inflamed and they should immediately start antibiotics, and therefore the dog should stay overnight at the clinic. I didn't like this option, but I told myself that I'm not a doctor after all. When I asked what could have caused it, the only answer was "the doctor will come tomorrow and he will be able to tell you more" (?!). The next day, during a phone call with the doctor, it was mentioned to me that the dog had a bandage on overnight, which he shouldn't have (!) On Monday I took my dog to our vet, who assured me that the ear is not inflamed at all and healing is proceeding as it should. And that he no longer understands why they had to keep him at the clinic overnight, which cost him a lot of stress. I understood when the bill came (!) I don't feel that my dog u200bu200bwas in good hands.
With this review, I just want to say, think twice about leaving your pet at the clinic overnight…
