I recently joined Indigo Gym, which opened in January 2023, and I am beyond impressed with this fantastic facility. The gym boasts a great atmosphere, featuring modern equipment in a spacious, open-plan layout with high ceilings. The ample natural light flooding the main area creates an inviting and energizing environment for workouts.

Indigo Gym offers a well-balanced mix of machine and free weights, catering to various fitness needs and preferences. Although I've read some complaints about the sauna in the other reviews, I primarily joined for the gym facilities, and I consider the sauna to be a bonus. If the sauna is your main priority, there are plenty of specialized establishments to choose from in Zürich.

One of the standout features of Indigo Gym is the vibrant crowd, contributing to the overall positive vibe. The gym's café, which you pass through upon entry, adds to this atmosphere. Not only does the café serve excellent coffee (with pea milk????), but the food is decent.

Additionally, the staff at Indigo Gym are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making my experience all the more enjoyable.

In my opinion, Indigo Gym is one of the best gym I've come across in Zürich, so don't be swayed by the naysayers. I encourage you to visit and experience this outstanding fitness center for yourself.

Awesome gym, well equipped, towel service, awesome spa. Great for both functional and traditional lifting and training. Love both this and their Basel branch and don’t understand the whiny reviews, so what you take 5 steps through a hip restaurant at a prime location in Old Town! Keep it up Indigo

I had a very humiliating experience at Indigo Fitness during a short visit to Zürich and like to share it with you. Shortly before 6 pm I went to the women's dressing room and sauna, not aware that the gym was closing at 6. Only shortly after, a young woman comes into the locker room and informs me that the gym is closing. She then immediately starts delivering several threats in a quite aggressive way. For example if I don't leave instantly she threatens to break into the shower. She says that I will never be allowed to use the gym again. A little later when I have dressed and ready to leave she is blocking me and gives me a lecture on how incredibly ignorant I am for not checking the closing time. It is as if it is no longer so important that I leave rather she wants to keep berating me. Obviously it was a mistake not to check the closing time however it was not intentional and I wanted to leave as soon as possible upon finding out that the gym was closing. It was extremely uncomfortable for me and since I was naked I felt humiliated. I question if it is appropriate to have such aggressive and non service minded personnel dealing with customers? Everyone can make mistakes and especially when on travels it is common with mistakes and confusions. The personnel at Indigo Fitness must be aware of this and be trained in how to deal professionally with guests/tourists/foreigners. The facilities are good but the personnel are really bad.

It doesn't get much better than this. Indigo was my 4th gym - the others all in London and let me tell you I am very upset to be going back to the UK - mainly because it means leaving this gym. The customer service - outstanding! I've sent countless emails asking questions on this and that and their kindness, consideration and quick replies are on another level. In person, almost all of the staff are so so friendly, outspoken, helpful, and upbeat. I've had staff help me improve my form, help me when I've forgotten gym equipment, and just had lovely conversations with them. There's one guy who is not so upbeat but hey you can't win them all. But customer service aside - there's absolutely everything they put into this gym which screams consideration and thoughtfulness. They provide water bottles, clean comfortable towels (and large ones for my girls with long hair!!!), make it compulsory to use sweat towels (keeping the gym environment clean), deodorant, makeup remover, makeup removing pads, tissues, soap, good shampoo and conditioner, strong wifi, and a coffee station on your way out for free coffee and lots of alternative milks and sweeteners.
As seen in the list above, they go out of their way to make sure you don't need to bring much with you in your bag - this was truly a life saver for me. Not to mention, providing the things like makeup remover etc meant it created more of a culture of getting ready in the morning at the gym rather than at home - and when you think about it, it makes more sense. To do your makeup, go to the gym, get sweaty, shower, and leave doesn't make sense. I have to go to my job straight after the gym and it saves me so much time (and peace of mind) to be able to do my makeup and get ready for the day AFTER my workout. It was so helpful to be able to incorporate into my routine.
They have a ladies only sauna, a mixed spa with a large steam room, cold plunge pool, large sauna, sitting area with a tea station in case you want a cup of tea and to wind down, and even a relax room where you can lie down on beds.
Even the culture here is fantastic - as a woman, I feel so comfortable and relaxed there without worrying about judgement from other women - I just know that the women here have my back in some sense - and I don't feel uncomfortable around the men either at all!!! No creepy staring, they even try to help me if I ask. People are really chatty and respectful to one another. I've had people help me with form so openly and helpfully and I've done the same for others.
Now, I've said so much but haven't even gotten to the gym itself. I like to weigh lift and run, so I can't say much about the group sessions, but there's a stretch area that I really appreciated and used a lot too. Even the machines have thoughtful placement - the machines are grouped into different parts of the body. If you pay attention, you'll notice that the machines for the lower body that don't require much thought for form are often facing the wall, not the mirrors and are more in the corner and hidden - I really like this! I hate sticking my arse out whilst doing RDLs, knowing someone behind me can see my entire rear view. But, if you want to look at your form, the ones you'll need to see it the most for are often in front of the mirrors. I mean wow. So thoughtful.
I would really recommend going at off-peak hours, most days I would stand in the middle of the gym and I could have nobody within a 10 metre radius of me.
If I were to give any criticism, it's the phone service at the location. Often I had to leave fast and go to work, running a bit behind schedule - and it's located right inside the old town (really beautiful by the way), and as soon as I left the gym, I had no service whatsoever, no clue how to get to the nearest station and no time to go back to ask. It's very easy to get lost inside the old town with its little avenues.
My other criticism is the new changing rooms that were recently renovated - I liked the old ones so much more - it made for so much more of an inviting and free changing environment.

Overall just ok. For the price you'd expect a premium experience you don't really get. While the gym is large enough to offer a diverse training experience for advanced members, there really is no supervision or instruction for beginners. The wardrobe for men is tiny, and feels crowded even outside of peak hours. The spa area is nice enough, but quite often really full in the evenings or weekends. Staff is mostly friendly, but ultimately are just there to clean up, collect towels and help you with admin stuff. Management seems bad, no confirmation or instructions sent after booking, zero follow-up when your membership runs out. The Personal Trainer barks at you when you try to make yourself a (complimentary) coffee at the entrance area 10 minutes before closure.

The idea of the club was good, but organization and planning killed it, turning overall not a bad gym to a complete disaster.

1. U have to pass through the restaurant to the gym and all the way up on the first floor in your dirty shoes to the locker room. Means all gym floor is dirty because of people going through the gym to the locker room.

2. Locker room is very tiny and there is not enough space, plus there is no toilet. For the toilet you have to go to another floor. The sink in the men’s toilet is clogged. Also one of the tap on the left in the main sink with a mirror is not functioning at all.

3. Also they saved money on the renovation / design and all walls are just row and dirty walls, without plastering and not smooth, but it has nothing to do with a design, no, it’s just not finished (there holes in the walls with construction garbage and walls are dusty).

4.For the sauna you have to go downstairs two floors, with your towel in the cold staircase. It does not feel welcoming.

5. Overall people and staff are polite and nice. Unfortunately it’s not enough to make this place a good gym because of the mentioned point above. I understand many points could not be fixed because of the planning of the building means this is already dead end.

Tried the 14-day trial, absolute disaster of a gym. The changing room for men is smaller than my living room with not enough lockers during busy times. They don’t have toilets (which are on a separate floor), getting to the men’s lockers you first walk through a restaurant and then across the workout area (imagine your shoes in winter when the weather is bad). The gym itself isn’t small but they waste so much space for a stretching/CrossFit area that the actual weights area is absolutely crammed. Lastly the spa can only be reached via a cold public fire staircase out of concrete.
To anyone reading these reviews ignore all the positive ones since the move to the new location and esp the management responses “we have a lot of positive feedback” because those have to have been paid for. I sincerely feel sorry for anyone stuck there with a contract who didn’t get the rightful option to quit early when they moved to the new location.

I have been a member at Indigo for many years and I considered it to be the best gym in Zurich.
Since the club moved to Münstergasse the situation drastically changed.
1 - The location is in the old town so very inconvenient to reach compared to the old one at Sihlporte.
2 - The old location was very bright with windows with a view everywhere, the new one is just your typical basement gym with artificial lighting.
3 - The old location had a very nice lounge area while the new one has none.
4 - The new location requires you to get in through a restaurant and walk through the tables. Passing the reception you need to go upstairs in the middle of the machine floor walking with your outside clothes to reach the locker room.
5 - The old locker rooms were spacious with plenty of space to sit and large lockers. The spa was separate for men and women and in each individual locker room and there was a bathroom inside. The new locker room is very small, essentially just a square with only one bench in the middle permanently covered with stinky used towels left there by anyone. If you are there with 4-5 other people you have a hard time finding a spot to get changed. The lockers are smaller and can’t fit what the old ones could. The lockers no longer use a padlock but have an electronic keypad that is often defective, sometimes the locker won’t open forcing you to get out of the locker room to seek for help at the reception meaning you need to get out with just a towel around your waist and walk through the entire gym. Sometimes a series of lockers will stop working completely and will unlock with no chance to lock it again leaving your belongings unprotected.
6 - The spa is now mixed and not exclusive to members and it’s on a different floor accessible through an escape staircase which means getting out of the locker room in a towel in the cold air. There is no separate sauna for men which are obliged to share the place. Women have their own sauna. Apparently management believe men are not allowed to have modesty because also the cleaning duties of the men locker room are almost exclusively covered by women who will enter giving you very little privacy since there is no way to cover behind anything.
7 - There is almost no phone reception in the new location because it is encased within a block building.
8 - I have been coming to the new location for almost a month now and EVERYONE has been complaining and confirming they would quit the membership since the change is a major downgrade from all fronts despite management sounding like a broken record mentioning “a lot of positive feedback”.
9 - Trying to terminate the membership with a compensation of the unused months was futile as management kept repeating the request has no legal ground and only offered a 50% refund. This is not in line with the normal practice as when gyms change location with such huge differences one of the options must always be to allow the current members to opt out. They never informed the members about the change of location and allowed people to extend the membership and only told us the month before. This is a very shrewd way to conduct business trying to trick customers. There is no way they knew of the move only one month in advance and willingly kept it a secret.
I am even questioning the new 5-star reviews, there must be a lot of people who love to pay premium prices for a very average gym or maybe they are friends of the staff like Indigo social media manager who posted one with pictures and videos infringing Google review policy on conflict of interest.
Apparently, unfairly keeping members tied to the membership of the new sub-par offer which is not what we signed up for is more important of the deserved bad publicity the club is going to get.
I am very sad this is the end of an era for Indigo and because I felt betrayed and exploited as a member.
