I would highly recommend Hallo Deutschschule to anyone looking to learn German in Zurich! I completed levels A1.1, A1.2, A1.3, A2.1, A2.2, A2.3 and am now starting B1.

The reception team is very friendly and helpful. They are highly responsive and have been able to successfully answer all of my queries.

I am also very impressed by the teaching staff. I have had numerous teachers across my courses. They have all been knowledgable and made learning German a very enjoyable process.

The course material is extremely well thought out and organised across the levels. The school has its own course material for A1 that makes it the perfect place to start out from scratch. This structured approach has been fantastic for my acquisition of the language and greatly boosted my confidence with some of the more complex grammatical structures. It is amazing to see how far I have come since starting.

I strongly encourage you to book in for a course!

I have been attending the school for 5 months and I highly recommend it. There are schools that promise you to get to B1 or C1 in 6-8 months and then there is Hallo Deutschschule that will take twice the time to do that. Nevertheless through repetition and incrementally adding new information you get to absorb new information and pick up the language more naturally.
The instructor (Nicole ) is also fun to be around and makes onsite learning worth of it.

I was in Hallo Deutschschule for a bit over a year with quite a few different teachers. I firmly believe that it is the best German language school in the city. The price is adequate for the amount of knowledge that you get in return.

I had a good time at this school, my compliments go to the teacher Elisabeth who deserves 5 stars... Otherwise at the reception desk I had problems with the payment financed by the unemployment fund, despite the fact that I had approached their reception desk three times explaining that they should have consulted with my unemployment advisor, they continued to send me reminder e-mails until today where they threatened to blacklist me from the debt. I phoned them to clarify once and for all and the girl at the reception desk was very rude and wouldn't let me talk, blaming the incident on me instead of apologising for the mistake on their part.
Be careful who attends this school if it is paid for by unemployment!

This is a very good language school in the close proximity to the center of Zürich.

Classes are medium sized (5-15 people, I would say 9 people on the average).

Quality of education is a very hard topic and I wouldn't dare to assess it with any degree of objectiveness. Can only testify for myself: I enjoy the process, I feel motivated to learn and move forward most of the time, I am making progress at a nice pace (4 months from A1.2 to A2.3 with an intensive course).

Also, I want to give an advice to all the students: it is quite easy to change the group and the teacher in Hallo Deutschschule. If you feel uncomfortable with your current course for any reason, just go to the secretariat and ask to move you. It is nothing unusual to change the group, just look for what is best for you. It helps a lot in many situations.

Pricing is relatively good (could be better, but it is Zürich, so all the human services are quite expensive).

Coffee is OK (costs 1 SFr, tastes fine).

Sanitary measures is also adequate in the current pandemic times. A tip: don't hesitate to politely and nicely ask other people ato comply with recommended antiviral measures. We are all in this together, we can best overcome it together by supporting each other.

I paid for a semi- intensive course. I could not come anymore for my class. Because my job. I tried to speak with the people from Hallo Deutschschule help me for a solution. But they only answer : you need to pay for the full course. Even when they knew about my problem. The quality about this school is not like before.

I can recommend Hallo Deutschschule on Fabrikstrasse in Zurich. I took one month of courses there, and the prices were fair and reasonable. The lessons were very high quality, interactive, and honestly just super enjoyable. By the end of the month I felt comfortable using basic German in my daily life during short conversations. I took the A2.1 course.

My teacher even took us on a “field trip” throughout Zürich where we used our German to order food, talk about the city, and even converse with some locals!

Although I had to stop my lessons because I became very busy at work, I always think of calling them again and signing up for another set of lessons (they even offer a Saturday course).

I honestly tell everybody about this place because I learned German so quickly there, and I looked forward to my lessons each day.

My teacher is singlehandedly the reason that I can speak German now, and I am really thankful that I took the plunge and signed up for lessons!
