Absolutely incredible off the beaten path Swiss bar !! Love the simple appetizer offerings and the beer and music *chefs kiss!! HOWEVER, the charge for EVERYTHING!! Butter, bread and charged separately on the bill, and they never told us they only take cash so we were left scrambling to find a way to pay the bill and in the end they accepted the only cash we had.

If you can find this bar, you should visit for sure. It's a super cozy little place with a lovely concoction of their own (aelpli milk). They have live music too!

A delightful authentically Swiss bar off the beaten path in Zürich. Our Swiss friends took us here one cold January night for a night of drinking and singing. The bar has their own concoction called Alplimilsh. I'm not quite sure what is in in but the best that I can guess would be: Cream or milk, white wine, kirschwasser, and perhaps a bit of sugar.

Whatever is in it - it's delicious and packs a punch!

We had some live Swiss music, yodeling, and a really great tiem. If you find yourself in Zürich, you can have a great time if you stop in.

The Aelpli is sort of difficult to find, down a quiet, a bit steep alley and it is easy to miss. It is very well decorated, quaint and rustic, the music played typically with accordion and violin or another string instrument, is typically Swiss and enjoyable, but it can get repetitive after a while. It is expensive bar though, even for Zürich. Plus they are cash only, which is weird, especially for Switzerland.

One warning though, don't stay at the Musicians Rooms above, it might seem cute or a nice idea, but whilst Swiss music is played 8pm to midnight, the the bar only closes about 2am or a bit later, which is not conducive to a good night's sleep.

We really enjoy our time here, lovely place, friendly and welcoming owner and staff. Would love to come back here on our next visit! Would recommend to anyone visiting Zurich - a must visit!

As a born and raised Midwesterner, I now know where my favorite bars come from. Old and beat up in all the right ways. My theory of the chains at the bar is so you have something to grab onto when you fall off your barstool. Bring cash and drink heavily, enjoy every minute.

Hidden gem! Ingrid was an amazing host and the band was great. Such a fun spot to grab a beer and relax
