I've tried a lot of Cordon Bleu in Switzerland and this might be one of the best Cordon Bleu in all of Switzerland! It was juicy, great cheese, and full of flavor. It's worth a long drive! One of the best restaurants in town.

We went there on Sunday lunch. Everything was quiet decent. I really liked gnocchi with porcini mushrooms. The cordon bleu was 3 out of 5.

Excellent food, all freshly made. Tartar steak had too much anchovies but everything else was great.

Worst dinner experience we had in Thun. Personell was not friendly; no 'hello, goodbye, how was your dinner, would you like desert', etc.
Piatto Sportive (chicken with melon) was overcooked, dry and though, after commenting this to the staff, the answer was that it is supposed to be this dry. The Cordon bleu was fine, but the fries were way too salty. Also had to wait to pay after reminding the staff we wanted to pay and leave. After payment he just asked if we wanted the receipt and walked away right after. We stayed friendly during our stay, the place was half full (not busy) so their behaviour was definately uncalled for.
- Would not recommend and not visit again.

We had a lunch which resulted in an awful experience. We waited 30 minutes for our food and the cordonbleu arrived completely burned. The very low quality meat was accompanied by old dry vegetables and extremely salty fries. I complained and could not eat my dish. Any other restaurant would not have charged the dish. THEY MADE ME PAY the full price for a dish that was not eatable. Don’t choose this place, you will waste your money and your good mood.

The Zunfthaus zu Metzgern is located in the historic centre of Thun, just below the castle. The restaurant is part of a hotel. I had the Rösti with Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (Zurich style sliced veal) and it was very good. It came with a slice of melon which seemed odd but actually it was quite refreshing after a savoury meal. Service was friendly but kind of slow. They did not offer a drinks menu. Prices are okay (for Switzerland).

Unbeatable and quiet yet central location, really cute rooms. You fall asleep easily with the sound of the fountain on the nearby square when you leave your windows open. Don't worry about the shared bathrooms as they were always clean and smelled good. Highly recommended.
