This is definitely a 5 starred place anyone needs to try in the neighbourhood. The two staff were so energetic and friendly. We had a hearty meal despite feeling under the weather. Food tasted RARELY good. Minestrone soup was special and packed with veggies. Enjoyed the olive oil with salt and black pepper, such a unique touch. We had the truffle linguine and grilled sea bass with pine nuts and risotto as a side, risotto was so so good. Wish I could be back again.

I was in awe when I received my food and took a first bite. Everything was so flavourful and delicious, freshly prepared in house and from the best quality ingredients.

I found this place simply because was the closest to the hotel we stayed, just around the corner.
Luckily we get last table without the reservation on a busy Thursday evening. The service was good and we got our food quite quickly considering the amount of guests in the restaurant at this point.

The menu is not big but I'm sure everyone will find something for their taste. I was so hungry I couldn't skip starter, so I ordered bruschetta and it was amazing. The fresh tomatoes were almost sweet and the bread was crunchy. The homemade raviolis with spinach and ricotta accompanied by buttery sauce were melting in my mouth, tagiatelle were perfectly cooked al dente and the sauce rich. I heard the meat was tender and also melted in mouth. I had to try a dessert so I went for panna cotta and they delivered. Sweet and creamy.

I would gladly come back if I ever visit Lucerne again. If you love pasta - go and try this place out.

Great food with great service. The pumpkin soup was divine with every scoop containing pumpkin seeds for the crunch. Spot on to stimulate my taste buds into exploring more food at the restaurant!

5 stars for location , ambiance , and amazing food, staff and service. The bruschetta was amazing, truffle pasta and risotto were soo good, homemade fresh pasta and shaved truffle. Quality ingredients & Deep flavors.

Fantastic dining experience in Luzern. Aleš, the owner, was a gracious host, selecting some fantastic wine to pair with Italian classics and innovative specials. I had sat down in the mood for pasta but in the end I had a sampling of Bison based dishes and a rich linguine al chef on the side. Highly recommend if in the mood for Italian or something new with an Italian twist, you won’t regret it.

There are many good and even great italian restaurants in the city. Very few however with personality. It's not just great food and friendly staff but that personal attention that makes Portofino one of our favorites. Instead of a stiff crowd staring silently down on a steril piece of culinary art, quietly sipping on a glass of ridiculously expensive grape juice and hoping that nobody notices their secret desire to escape you see happy people enjoying a fantastic meal with friends and family, laughing and having a good time. It's that feeling of home and family where you can be yourself and relax while enjoying a scrumptuous meal. At Portofino there are no strangers just newly found friends. The food is authentic, pasta al dente and the scaloppine perfectly seasoned on point. The menu is classic. The presentation clean and crisp.

Service is excellent, restaurant is beautiful (inside and the terrace as well), and the food is phenomenal and well-priced. Try the Portofino fish (Ligurian style) and any of their homemade pastas (including the tagliolini with truffles).

We have been on a busy Monday evening in this cozy Italian restaurant. My family and me felt warmly welcomed by the authentic hosts. The quality is outstanding, great selection of wines by the glass and a care of details that is rarely seen in this segment of restaurants. We instantly made ourselves at home and followed the owners suggestion, ordered a selection of starters: bruschetta al pomodoro, seared scallops on green asparagus with an asian twist, hand-cut veal tartare with pistachio and lime zest (amazing!). Followed by main courses branzino mediterranean style and a tender/juicy, perfectly grilled bison entrecôte with truffle side dishes. We will come back for sure, the 40 mins drive from Zurich are well worth it!
