We were very pleased with our stay in this historic hotel very near to the train station. It has an iconic 150 years old elevator. It's an interesting experience to use it. The room is nice and clean and all the amenities are modern and working. The staff were friendly and helpful. Take note the reception opens till 9pm. So plan your arrival accordingly. Highly recommended to stay here.

More then happy with this place.
Reasonably priced. Rooms are clean and functional. Trams up front did not bother me. The included breakfast is fantastic. On offer are a wide variety of savoury ( cheese, ham, salami, soft boiled egg) and sweet (cereal, yoghurt, fruit salad) options and your bread croissant, butter and jams. Excellent coffee, self help from the machine, not percolated as it is so often the case. As I had to leave early, before breakfast, the lovley receptionist offered me a sandwich with ham or cheese to pick up the evening before to take with me on the day of departure.
This stay was a very pleasant experience and I will be back also, but not only, of its superb location.
PS I love that The National is a old building and has character

Good hotel but we booked a small room and it has a window which opened in a balcony from where others could see or even come through their windows. However, it has great location. Very near to the train station and city center.

Really enjoyed our stay here - highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Hotel is conveniently located a short walk away from station/public transport and close to the city centre.

Breakfast buffet was varied, delicious and fresh. There is also a restaurant with great food.

Rooms were clean with comfortable bedding.

I stayed at Hotel National Bern for one night on a business trip. The location is amazing, everything you need as a tourist is in walking distance, from public transport to charming Café's and restaurants and other sights.

The Hotel itself was clean and has an old fashioned but charming style. As somebody who appreciates this kind of things, the highlight of my stay was definitely the old elevator that was still in use, what an experience!

The room itself was very cozy and clean and the breakfast was well equipped as well. I wasn't lacking in anything during my short stay, can definitely recommend!

The rooms are clean and nice. The staff is friendly and the location is very central (5 minutes from the train station). Good breakfast. However, it is very noisy at all hours due to the Trams in the streets. Over all of you don’t mind a the noise it is a great place to stay.

We need to start a fan club for Ana Pereira who welcomed us so warmly on our first night. She's a stellar person, knowledgeable about the hotel and the àrea, and so willing to make sure we were all set up for our stay.
The hotel is gorgeous, well equipped and clean. The only thing that could improve the room would have been a refrigerator to keep our food fresh.
Breakfast in the restaurant was great, varied. Celiac safe bread was provided as well as plenty of gluten free options.

Had an amazing stay at this hotel. Highly recommend if you are visiting Bern for the first time. Great location. Close to trams and metro station. Staff were friendly and helpful.
