Stayed for one night in May and booked through Amex travel. We were happy with the cleanliness of the room, but was disappointed otherwise. Very small bathroom with little room to move. door separating washroom from bathroom was translucent, offering little privacy while showering or using the toilet. Room was advertised as having city or courtyard views, and the provided photos were appealing when booking our room, but did not match what we got. Our window looked across to the wall of another building, with a small patch of gravel roofing outside the window. A planter was outside the window which had a layer of cigarette butts in the bottom. The room began to have strong smells of sewage through the night. When we opened the window for relief from these smells, we were met with strong cigarette smoke filling the room making it difficult to sleep. Many noises throughout the night including banging on walls and ceiling. Appreciated having a small television in the room, but was unable to find any English channels (BBC news offered in all other accommodations of trip). Was unable to find anyone at reception around midnight after several failed attempts to sleep. Called Amex travel to complain, who were also unable to contact hotel staff after multiple attempts at reaching out to their contacts. Interactions at check in were pleasant, otherwise.

I really did have a lovely time! It really scratched the itch of spending the night in a lovely, cozy hotel! Already recommended it to friends and would go again. We were treated like royalty by all the staff we had contact with and the food in the restaurant downstairs was delicious.

I do live 15min away from it, haha, so I am very much local. Just wanted to spend a good weekend with my best friend. And we very much did!

Location is great.
1- bathroom is located in a cabinet in the side of the room sort of like a closet but a bathroom.
2- room service is not the best, when we checked in the toilet had stains and dirt.
3- bathroom reeked of urine.
4- shower floor had stains I don’t know what.
5- soap dispenser was half broken.
6- window in the room didn’t close and we were cold all night.
7- coffee and water heater are good.
8- breakfast is amazing, and the plates were clean.
9- reception is very friendly.
10- safe place.

This is a great place to stay in the Old Town. Our room had the cutest little balcony overlooking the rooftops and it was super peaceful, even though it's right near some very popular bars and restaurants. We didn't try the food because we got Thai food from across the street. Complimentary tea and coffee was nice. Very clean room and comfortable beds.

If you are an American, and it’s summery hot, yeah, it could be a bit oppressive. If you don’t like street noise when you are trying to sleep at 11pm or 12pm at night, you may not appreciate the music and fun happening if you have a window view. But, if you want to immerse yourself into Bern, this is the place to come. Near lots of local attractions. Bathrooms are a bit odd, but they have character. That’s what you get here: unique character.

We had an amazing experience! Friendly and Courteous Staff.. Our room was pretty decent (perfect for 2) overlooking the old town. For a moment we thought we had gone back in time.. If you are looking for the right spot to visit the hotspots in and around Bern, then id strongly recommend this hotel as all the major hot spots are just within walking distance. Overall wonderful experience and we would definitely return back to this place again..

Stayed here for two nights during our stay in Switzerland. Overall it was a nice hotel which checked all of the main boxes. The location was absolutely perfect. The breakfast was simple and light, but a good way to start the day.

It’s clear that the bathroom was retrofitted in our room, resulting in a very small space. The bed was not so comfortable. There was no air conditioning, so the room could get quite warm, even at night.

Another thing to note is that the street where the hotel is located is very lively and people tend to be out late sitting on the terraces of the restaurants until rather late. Wouldn’t be much of a problem if you didn’t want to have the window open so that the air can circulate.

Even clocking in as one of the cheaper options in Bern’s old town, it still felt like what we got wasn’t exactly in accordance with what we paid. It does the trick for a night or two, especially if you like to be right in the center. A bonus (which maybe applies to all hotels, but I’m not sure) was that we received vouchers for free public transportation in Bern for the duration of our stay, which proved quite handy. Overall a good middle-of-the-road option.
