I have had many wonderful experiences at Bücher-Brocky, a secondhand book library located in Bern. The selection of books is always impressive and diverse, and I have found many rare and hard-to-find editions while browsing the shelves.

One of the things I appreciate most about Bücher-Brocky is the friendly and helpful staff. They are always willing to assist me in finding a specific book or making a recommendation based on my interests.

Right inside the door you'll find 5 m of books in English. Sfr. 3,- for paperbacks and 4,- for everyhting else. Tons of books in German. CDs and DVDs ( They're too expensive: Sfr 3,- each - these days you can pick them up everywhere for 1 Sfr or less ). Opens 10:30.

The entrance on Bern's Länggasse is easy to miss but the true bibliophile will regret it if they do!

Once inside, you'll be presented with an array of reading matter that will hold your interest for at least an hour!
The first section upon entering is the English one with literally hundreds to choose from.

Entering further will expose more bibliophilic delights on every subject from physics and law, to children's books and comics with everything in between.

Prices range from 3 - 5 Francs for most books with exceotions for special editions or antique collectibles.

There are free to use lockers to store your belongings whilst browsing.

I thoroughly recommend this shop which uses to profits for good causes.

EDIT. They accept most forms of payment except (surprisingly) Postfinance or TWINT.

Luckily, if you wish to pay using one of these methods, there is a post office over the road with a cash machine.

A great second hand bookshop with a good selection of books in English. Paperbacks for 2 francs.
