When I first walked into this marvelous book store back in 1961, as a teenager, thousands of miles from home, I discovered that I had finally found my place. When I was out of school and working every pay day would find me here, lost in the wonderful world of books. The owners, the Biders back then, were very nice people. I'm very glad that this book store has weathered the years and still exists!!!

bider & tanner has a long history in basel. step by step it became what it is today: the traditional basel bookstore with a variety of services. beside books for all ages, there is a special corner for books about basel, cd‘s and dvd’s, a SBB ticket shop and a TCS desk. the bookstore especially covers travel guides, language teaching books, anthroposophical books, books about food and drinks, management, medical and kids books.

Simply the best bookseller in Basel. Right size, one can easily find its way and get good support and advises from the courteous personnel. And if they don't have a book they can get it for you fast.

Called them to see if they had a book, they went to check the shelves and then when I came by they showed it to me since it was a bit hidden, super nice service, would recommend, also very good selection!

Location by the city tram. 5 minutes walk from the center. They have 2 floors. At floor 1 you can get english books. In the german written part of the bookstore the staff was friendly but a bit too "german". In the english part staff was very helpfull.

This is a lovely book store. I was looking for a book in a series I like in English. I was super impressed they had English books at all. Even more impressed they had the actual book I was after. Easy to navigate the store. Right on the tram line so easy to get to. Would definitely shop here again if I'm in town.

The best place to buy a book, and if they do not have the book, they order for you and its arrive just in 1 or 2 days, they are so gently and ready to help. Allmost all of them speak english or other language not only german. I love ir

Good selection of books and gifts. Especially like the English language section which is small and well curated. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
